Weather Weapon // Make the Sky bomb us

Lets mix up our game [az uzual] and throw out there some cool knowledge that most of you think it has nothing to do with what you came here for.

Bombing the Atmosphere

“Just weeks before the beginning of WWI, two weeks before the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, followed quickly by a cascade of war declarations a few days after that, came this rather footloose idea for bombing the atmosphere

J.M. Cordray came up with and patented this notion–a barrage of balloons, heavily armed balloons, sent aloft with dangerous cargo to be exploded in the atmosphere, which was supposed to initiate a chain-reaction of some sort which would end in supplying rain for the rest of us. Theoretically, anyway. The unspecified number of balloons would be sent aloft, laden with large amounts of crushed bone and concentrated sulfuric acid (to be combined to produce nitrogen), potash, water, and large amounts of crude oil for the fire’s fuel.  And a candle to light it all.”

* BONUS *

“The May 25, 1958, issue of The American Weekly ran an article by Frances Leighton using information from Captain Howard T. Orville. The article, in no uncertain terms, described a race to see who would control the earth’s thermometers. The illustration that ran with the piece pictured an ominous looking satellite which could “focus sunlight to melt the ice in frozen harbors or thaw frosted crops — or scorch enemy cities.”

To Go Greenhouse // Failz

Its getting late here in Paris so lets throw something “lighter” to you mi readerz. Somehow I saw this project floating around the web and started laughing. Lolz.

It was first introduced as part of the Milan Design Week (u know peepol with moleskinz and starbucks everywhere)

To be completely honest I wasn’t that shocked with the actual design result rather the famous “text description” that accompanies any piece of design. Lolz

Le Text :
“From the most primitive needs to the most evolve transformations, plants have always been key element in human development. Oxygen, food, cloth, color, medecine: at the core of civilization remain our relation with vegetales and the tools and crafts which result of it. On a foreign planet plant could witness for us if this land could be a new garden of eden. Therefore one of our luggage must insure the preservation of this precious resource if we want to be sure to make home on another terra.”

…wait i will make it clear for you minions..

Our friend here is saying that probably this guy :

The Explorers Club \\ Tara Oceans arrives in NewYork

yo yo yo…mixin’it up once again with super non.architecture news.

☞ BIG NEWS  :

The French scientific research vessel Tara will arrive in New York on 5th February for a week-long stay. Tara Oceans is a three-year, 70,000-mile mission across the Atlantic, Pacific, Antarctic and Indian oceans to investigate the impact of global warming on biodiversity and marine life.

The 118-foot schooner is sponsored by private sponsors and a scientific consortium including the French National Centre for Scientific Research and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. This research expedition is taking place under the auspices of the United Nations Environmental Program and in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the  Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.
Researchers from Tara will be sharing their message of a sustainable future for all at the United Nations Rio+20 Conference in June.

Scientists on board Tara are investigating the role played by plankton in the earth’s life-support system; the effects of climate change on this critical base to the marine foodchain; the preservation of marine biodiversity and ways of combatting pollution and overfishing. Artists and journalists on board are helping to promote public awareness of these important issues. Twenty-one laboratories in 10 countries are collaborating with the mission, and research findings are published immediately on free access databases.
