Brand Spirit

Brand Spirit: every day for 100 days, I will paint one branded object white, removing all visual branding, reducing the object to its purest form. I can purchase each object for less than $10, it can be something I own, something another person gives me, or something I find! “

Monika Grzymala // Fucking up da space

“Artist Monika Grzymala has created this dramatic installation, made entirely with black tape, within the Sumarria Lunn gallery in London.

The show sees Grzymala take over the entire gallery with the installation, changing the way visitors interact with the space. It is the latest in a series of site-specific tape installations by the artist, who has previously exhibited at galleries including MoMA New York, the Tokyo Art Museum and the Drawing Room in London.”

The FG team approves these cute random artist fucking up the space, the hardcore way, the only way!

Dutch artist Marjan Teeuwen eviscerates the walls of abandoned buildings, conjoining rooms with massive holes, and uses leftover fragments to create densely textured walls and surfaces. In the project entited Destroyed House, Teeuwen removed the walls from a post-war apartment block in Amsterdam and sawed the building’s doors into hundreds of fragments, using them in turn to construct layered partitions. Walls made from doors. In other works she uses countless objects crammed into small rooms, creating claustrophobic spaces that appear on the verge of collapse, putting any contemporary hoarder to shame. If you want to learn more you can catch this 44 minute documentary of the artist at work.

Projektpilot, which realises ambitious design projects, presented its full range of services for the first time at EuroShop ’08. The company focuses on a comprehensive consultancy service, and on co-ordination and realization. Its trade show appearance is conceived as an encounter and communication area. D’art Design’s basic idea is to put cardboard in a new context as a material  to produce something eye-catching that visitors will remember. There is a great deal of expertise behind the simple-looking structure. D’art Design set Projektpilot a challenging task: each of the 8,140 tubes had to have its length calculated individually in order togive the cardboard structure a three-dimensional shape.
