ScanLab // Props

let’s admit it…you are quite lucky

thank god we did not post something about 3D scanning of the earth, BBC, which would make my dick go soft even if i were with Irina Shayk…

random bullshitters, time to get familiar with the work of ScanLab.

both founders graduated from da Bartlett not so long ago, and it has been going from good to better for them ever since. Big up guys…

I mean they did invent a ginormous 3d scanner….big wha!

“ScanLAB Projects specialise in large scale 3D data capture. We scan in full colour creating millimetre perfect 3D dataset of objects, buildings and landscapes for use in Design, Making and Visualisation.

We use a range of state of the art 3D scanning technologies providing a fast, reliable and highly accurate service which is tailored to the needs of our clients.

ScanLAB Projects is run by Matthew Shaw and William Trossell. Our backgrounds in architecture and fabrication mean we have unique insight into industries where 3D scanning can have its most substantial impact.

As a company we are actively involved in teaching and research at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. Through our commercial projects and research activities we are constantly exploring and expanding the potentials of this powerful technology. We are currently working with leading architects, engineers, broadcasters and artists on a portfolio of projects worldwide.”

these guys are so cool they even managed to sell a very dirty, for Zaha level, animation to her for like 80000pounds…

Robots of Brixton // bdonline forum discussion

well well,

its been 2-3 days down at the BDonline forum we are observing all you little trolls debating.

Link to thread (+)

Link to the Factory.Fifteen (+)

*(If you are a frequent reader you know better than everyone that the FG is super keen on laughing/trolling with projects submitted in the Presidents medals. No hard feelings in the end of the day. We put a pizza in a plan or turn a perspective into a counter-strike map. )

Anyway back to the subject.

you are all FUCKIN STOOOPID.

-you got a problem with the RIBA ? fine don’t check their website

-you got a problem with architecture in general? go ahead and start ur fashion career

-you got a problem with the definition of architecture? especially here i don’t give a f*ck

Do you remember when Tobias was in the PMs.??  We all got bored of hearing comments and critiques on his liquid whatever pure 3d creations.  where is the door, how thick is the insulation and all that.

A few years later whole units are mutilating animals under Hernan’s  supervision. We don’t care if you agree or like this. Is happening with or without your approval. Is it architecture? Is it a valid starting point for a project to slice up a rabbit? who knows?!

As FG we like the Factory.

Some videos are amazing some not so much. But they got skills and jumped out as a crew. They do their thing and the jury liked it. was this due to their originality, animation skills, concept, ideas? no clue, but who cares.

Lets see how many of you will submit animations next year

and be frustrated for not winning… (of course)

We are writing this not so much to support the Factory but to make you think before posting endless stupid questions on a thread.

What did you expect, Tavares, to explain his project in a forum, or say he is sorry for winning.!?!  Send a letter to the RIBA or just get into the ARB later but most of all don’t spend most of ur time on animation tutorials you bots cos only the guy who does it first gets the prize.

ciao

Presidents Medals//The finest generation of copy-paste

Yo yo to mi peepool in the AAD ; )

Next time you want to make a project/parody so everyone can have a laugh with please consider the following guide:

a. find a f*cking amazing reference

b. make sure its a piece of work much better than you can ever imagine making yourself

c. make sure you have no idea what is it about

d.or simply follow the steps of a pokemon known as Rahul Vishwakarma from Oxford (cough cough) Brookes

I suppose you are all familiar with the Presidents’ Medal winner of 2009 Nicholas Szczepaniak and his “Defensible Architecture” project.
Anyway, the point is not to praise his work rather than have a laugh or two with all these stupid little bitches that go around crying “ooooh thats just a speculation, ooh dude thats so superficial, arggh I wish i could do something ectoplasmatic for once so i can look cool, pff im a nooob, etc” ….and then end up working for more than a year on a pure copy-paste mode.

—-0— There will be more posts about PM entries of 2011 mainly  composed by “hahah” “OMG” “WTF” or “LOL” comments as done in the past. However here we thought it would be unethical  to not intervene!

- A Defensible Architecture by Nicholas Szczepaniak  (COPY!) (+)
- A Theatre Of Waves: Continuing Profane Rituals by Rahul Vishwakarma (PASTE) (+)

1)Lets see how the design process of Rahul started. He followed carefully the above list and analysed one of his favorite projects as seen bellow

ALL he ever wanted:
was to do something that might look A BIT LIKE THIS !!
IS IT THAAAT BAD??

We can go on and talk about the difference between copying and stealing something but is useless since you bots prefer to scroll up and down than think for a minute. Dont worry the images are self.explanatory

where the f*ck to start and where the f*ck to finish?

If you still dont get that is made of some elements that MOVE and some elements that are VERTICAL and THIN you can read a bit of Rahul’s description (its all about narrative duuuude)

.…..They glisten as salt crystals refract the azure-tinted spectacle.

My feet, pressed against uneven ammonites, throb as I pass motionless Lymers and seasoned visitors watching a passenger-laden boat voyage towards a MONUMENTAL engine.

Rhythmical mechanical creaking and groaning overwhelming calls from overhead seagulls, as fish/bird-shaped counterweights slowly appear from the sea. Using binoculars I witness gears and cogs tirelessly pumping intertwined machines; silhouettes Fishing, Diving, Chatting, Pointing, and Staring

Bellow: The finest of experimentation. Up to you to check whos the COPY and whos the PASTE

We could continue writing but is sad and have better things to do like: have some tea with Renzo’s wife or even better play fetch with the 3 new interns of Bernard. All we could say is that Rahul Vishwakarma and his fantastic project in the middle of nowhere will not win…..since there are NO BIRDS in the drawings. Its obvious that Nicholas had an edge with his birdy drawings

ciao for now,

Rahul you can either

A.paint yourself blue and jump in the sea
B.read AA’s catalogue for some change this week
