Intellectual Horsepower // Emergency Dwellings

yo & hello again my TOP IQ readers!

F*UCK DAT SHIT *

Mid-day AGGRESSIVE level up.. for you IN THE PROCESS

You are in a situation where something correctly planned takes an unexpected turn.

[we are gonna work in parallel..training our Intellectual Horsepower for Temporary Emergency Habitation]

In a weakened state, disaster victims need immediately to have shelter and safety. Emergency Shelters should be easy to install and to move location if its needed, wind-resistant, modular and of course like  feathers[whaa] combining compaction and lightweight to the maximum.

F*UCK DAT SHIT * thats why we are here

Cool Down. Excessive emotionality decreases the effective use of brain power. The emotional system hijacks the brain until the threat is removed. The brain works best under cool conditions. If you tend to get emotional about things, wait a minute or two to regain your composure and then try to solve the problem.

So, dealing with Dynamic Tension Structures :

  • Human Dwellings—> Improve, or redesign if needed, their standard of structural stability and performance, having as a goal to make them have a rare probability to collapse or sustain damage in a catastrophe(human or natural made)
  • Patternize a way and design temporary structures(easily mass produced) using the minimum amount of materials to get the greatest level of effectiveness.

F*UCK DAT SHIT*

Learn to separate your opinions from facts you know. Help others do the same. Opinionated people are seldom clear thinkers and good problem solvers.

BE AWARE

Rigid or narrow beliefs decrease the use of your brain power. Our experience unknowingly creates boundaries for our thinking. Try to think outside your belief  boundaries. You don’t have to give them up,  just turn them off when your are thinking about a problem or challenge.

Applying Fullers invention, the spherical Geodesic Dome combines usage of the minimum amount of surface area, energy saving, low cost of materials and minimum labor. Fuller introduced the idea that when the sphere’s diameter is doubled it will quadruple its square footage and produce eight times the volume.[correct or what?]

Fuller writes in 1928, “These new homes are structured after the natural system of humans and trees with a central stem or backbone, from which all else is independently hung, utilizing gravity instead of opposing it. This results in a construction similar to an airplane – light, taut, and profoundly strong.” (R.B. Fuller, 4D Timelock)

F*UCK DAT SHIT * (haha i wrote that again)

Think Systems:Analyze everyday events and processes and try to see why they work the way they do. Take complex problems and try to show how almost all problems are some form of  models that already exist.

Spherical dome structures win on the efficiency/value stats as the most efficient interior atmospheres because air and energy circulate without any barriers. Take past examples on geodesic shelters (Biosphere–space living simulations) and see that because heating and cooling occur naturally, such human dwellings are proven to be the most effective and efficient shelter possible.

Visualize: People learn and think better using different media. Try studying problems and challenges and communicate the elements of a problem to others. Using a different media than you are used to, can help you see a problem differently and involve a part of your brain you don’t normally use to come with solutions.

It’s nearly certain that the first interplanetary human dwellings will be entirely geodesic in design.

ARCHITECTURE ● Meat & Butcher // the best excuse for a cool student project

I know most of you navigate in cyberspace in order to stumble upon cool images or event better KILLER images from time to time.

Architecture education has been long now filled with skillful students that are super capable of producing amazing work. However when it comes to the actual proposal and justification of their projects we all witness a philosophical funeral.

You all know what I’m talking about but do not really talk about it in your studio.

“I want to do something nice, something f*cking amazing, sooo amazing that my images will be like Oreos on a milkshake”

“I want my drawings to be cool and have something (?) to do with new school / high tech, BUT in the same time inject a bit the character of traditional know how….you know so that peepol in London will think I’m good.”

STFU!

all your drawings will be done with the latest softwares and this “atmosphere for the drawing to convey” will be equal to a “Make your photos look VINTAGE” app.

1)

One of the best excuses to pursue such a project with clear consciousness is the BUTCHER & MEAT concept (hahah i just said concept ! )

take a look at this render…If you still dont know what is going on..I will reveal the secret :

“Today, the British public are losing touch with traditional craft methods, consuming products without realising the processes involved. These once handed down processes are becoming lost as our nation becomes more globalized.”

“The Institute of Meat aims to reintroduce these understated crafts and skills into the city centre by placing them within the retail high street…”

PROBLEM SOLVED : we take this symbolic (but still functional!) cow facade style building, place it next to M & S, Vodafone or GAP and BOOM!

anyway..lets continue

2)

Next project: celebrating the ambiguous architectural role of Meat production process (hahah) is coming again from our beloved Presidents Medals.

Note 1 : the skills of these students are f*cking TOP! not like the previous Pokemon

BUT!!!!

“The trajectories of gunfire will be replaced with slow moving tomatoes, courgettes and sumptuous olives.”

hah come on. The guy has the skills to make such a drawing and invests all his energy in “slow moving tomatoes”.. Just so he can do a project like that! The power of the autistic narrative my friends.

Note 2 : before you start trolling about how little we respect the PM and bla bla bla.. when I first saw this project I was 90 % it will scoop the Medal. I even placed a small bet with my tutor (2 cookies).. so shhhh

3)

hahhaha,

welcome back my beloved suckerpunch (!) friends..

Ok, what is going on here

“Primal Parts focused on exploring the possible affects and spatial conditions in architecture by analyzing the heterogeneous composition of biological parts. A set of biological parts were configured then dismembered through the use of butchering techniques.”

Translation :

we wanted to check our 3D skills and ended up producing forms that looked like…mmm…whatever you see above.

Then we thought that we might get away by saying our project investigates biological parts ( yes thats the point we laugh..hahah).

Finally we decided to “brain-f*uck” our readers by saying that somehow BUTHCHERING techniques are involved in this diarrhea
